The Shamrocks kicked off their playoff schedule with a 5-1 victory over the visiting Guelph Storm. Right from the opening faceoff, the Shamrocks took the play to Guelph and within 3 minutes, opened the scoring on a great shot from the blue line.
Solid puck pursuit by all three lines continued and by period’s end a second tally was added giving the shamrocks a 2-0 lead. Hespeler stretched their lead to three by adding another in the second.
Penalty trouble in the third allowed the “Storm” to tighten the lead a little, scoring a power play goal on a two man advantage. However the Shamrock defence held firm and a flurry of goals later in the third period eventually put the game out of reach. It was a solid start for what hopes to be a long playoff run.
