Rocks Wrap Up 2nd Place!!! Bring on the Playdowns!!!!
The Hespeler Major Atom A Shamrocks captured the coveted second seed in the division with 2 convincing wins over New Hamburg and Guelph to finish off the regular season!

Facing a must-win situation against the Huskies on Sunday, the Rocks out-played New Hamburg and skated to a emphatic 4-1 win. The Rocks followed it up the next day playing a determined but over-matched Jr. Storm team and ultimately defeated Guelph 8-3.

The Rocks will now be placed in a round-robin pool with New Hamburg; Georgetown; Dundas; and Owen Sound. Each team will play a home-and-home series against each other and the team with the most points will advance to the OMHA Playoffs.

First up is a rematch against those same New Hamburg Huskies who will definitely be one of the toughest teams to beat.
All other teams will be a challenge though with Georgetown posting 2 ties against the Shamrocks this season and Dundas also securing a tie. Both teams have very solid goaltending.
Owen Sound also played the boys at the recent Brantford tournament and showed that they too will not be push-overs.
It will definitely be a difficult road for the Rocks but we all know they have the character and determination to prevail!!!!

Following the clinching victory over Guelph, first-year forward Aaron Nagel had this to add, "Dad, do I have to take a shower?"
Team Reporter turned dad, responded with his all too familiar "I don't know. Ask your mom when you get home."

However, Nagel did go on to elaborate what was said after the game by the coaches. "Coach Terry said 'good job guys' but remember that nobody ever remembers who finished in second in the regular season. What they remember is how you do in the playoffs!!!".

Ain't that the truth!!! Good luck boys!!! You've made all your parents; family and friends very proud and we will continue to support you no matter what as you head into the post season!

First up is the aforementioned New Hamburg Huskies on Thursday Jan 17th at 7pm in Hespeler. Go Rocks!
