Hespeler Novice A’s Rock'd in Fort Erie

Early in the morning on Friday, November 30, 2012 the Hespeler Shamrocks Novice A hockey team arrived in Fort Erie, Ontario to take part in the Andy Passero Memorial Tournament.

The Novice Rocks played 5 games in 3 days and managed to sweep their Round Robin group with a 3-0 record beating Whitby 7-4, West Seneca 4-3 and Fort Erie 7-0. The Shamrocks emerged from the round robin as the highest ranked team and on Sunday morning won the semi finals against Port Perry 3-0 advancing to the Finals once again vs the Fort Erie Jr. Meteors. After a hard fought battle during regulation time the Rocks dominated play but ran up against a very hot goaltender and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Overtime would solve nothing and the Rocks finally lost out in the 5th round of sudden death shoot outs. The Novice Rocks put in an outstanding team effort finishing with a well earned 2nd place in the tournament.
