Hespeler Shamrocks Take Gold in Washington, D.C. Congressional Tourney
The Hespeler Major PeeWee "A" Shamrocks did their hometown proud winning gold at the Washington, D.C. Congressional Thanksgiving Classic, November 29 – December 1.
The Hespeler Major PeeWee "A" Shamrocks did their hometown proud winning gold at the Washington, D.C. Congressional Thanksgiving Classic, November 29 – December 1. After a heavy handed 7-0 victory in game 1 against the Capitals Academy (VA), they went on to meet the strong New Jersey Devils (NJ). The early hour and disciplined play of the Devils proved to be too much for the Rocks and they dropped game 2 to the Devils 6-1. Not to be deterred, the boys in green regrouped and took game 3 against the Piedmont Predators 5-2, earning them a top 4 finish and a birth in the semi-finals. The Rocks took to the ice and battled hard to beat the Green Machine Ice Cats (NY) 2-1 and move on the the finals where they were to face the New Jersey Devils (NJ) for a second time. The Rocks came out firing on all cylinders taking an early lead and maintaining the pace and pressure for 3 solid periods until the buzzer sounded resulting in a 4-2 Hespeler victory and gold metals to be declared at customs (Sorry Scott, had to steal your line). Great work boys...GO ROCKS GO!
