Rocks Continue Winning Ways in Playdowns!!!!
The Hespeler Major Atom A Shamrocks made it 4 wins in a row with two wins over Dundas and Georgetown.
The Rocks skated past the Blues on Tuesday in Dundas posting a 4-0 victory and continued their successful road trip with a 4-2 victory over the Georgetown Raiders on Thursday.
The wins keep the Shamrock hopes of moving to the OMHA quarter-finals alive but they will likely need two more victories over Owen Sound and Dundas this week to make it happen.
The win in Dundas saw the Rocks get off to a slow start but slowly assert their will against the Blues. With the score tied 0-0 after 1, the Rocks went on the offensive and netted 4 unanswered goals on their way to a shutout victory posted by first year goalie Owen Clark.
The following game against Georgetown marked what will hopefully be the last time the Rocks ever have to play in the Georgetown Memorial Arena. There are not a lot of venues that make you appreciate Karl Homuth, but this is certainly one of them!!!
It's cold...I mean real cold!!!!
Anyways, the Rocks set the tone early creating multiple chances but couldn't get on the board, and eventually fell behind 1-0. Undeterred however, the boys kept coming ultimately taking a 3-1 lead. After allowing the Raiders to pull within one, a late goal secured the victory.
A very nice game played by both Brayden Moore and Nick Billeci. Moore was a pain in the backside of the Raiders all night while Billeci constantly broke up plays in the neutral zone allowing the Rocks to transition quickly to their offensive attack.
Most importantly however, the Hespeler Hockey Moms rallied to the support of the Team Reporter supplying him with a warm blanket to protect him from the arena cold!!!!
Like a pride of cougars (oh, that's awesome!!!!) protecting their precious cub, the Hockey Moms surrounded Team Reporter with warmth and kind words to ensure his typing fingers could continue to produce his journalistic magic!!!! (I think everyone saw it the same way as I did :)
But remember Hockey Moms....my feet were cold. Next time I'll need some warm slippers as well.
Perhaps the only 'hater' in the arena was the father of the aforementioned Nick Billeci. Yes, Vince cast an unapproving look when Team Reporter was under his blanket, undoubtedly questioning my masculinity, but it was the same Billeci who moments later non-chalantly stepped away from his seat and came back with a seat cushion to protect his cold tush. HA!!! We both lost our "man cards" last night Billeci!!!!
Ah but I digress....Rocks next game is this Saturday at 215pm vs Owen Sound in Hespeler 1. Go Rocks Go!!!!
