City of Cambridge Arena Protocol Update
The City of Cambridge have provided updated arena usage protocols. Please review.
- Capacity of each space in a sport/recreation center needs to be reduced to 50%. This means lobby spaces, spectators areas, the ice pad and dressing rooms all have their own reduced capacity. The positive news is the reduced capacity is based on fire code rather than a physical distance of 2m between individuals.
- In our smaller facilities (Dickson, Duncan and Karl Homuth) the City will be adjusting some schedules to permit for enough time to access dressing rooms in game scenarios. This will be effective from January 2nd to 28th at minimum and will continue to be reviewed.
- For practices, each team will continue to have 2 dressing rooms available to them. Chairs will also be available once again in designated areas to help with overflow.
- For games, each team will have access to 1 dressing room and designated chairs in our larger facilities. In our smaller facilities there are time buffers built in to provide teams with two dressing rooms plus the chairs. Keep in mind dressing rooms will not be available as early as teams have become accustomed to.
- Showers remain available but we are asking groups to be out of their dressing room within 15 minutes following your ice time.
- A separate email will be sent out to the minor sports user groups impacted by schedule changes. Permits will be updated the first week of January.
- In order to stay within the reduced capacities – we are limiting one parent/guardian per participant in our facilities. The city will permit a parent or guardian to bring in their additional child(ren) with them for child care purposes. But are asking that this be a very last resort.
- Effective January 4, 2022, everyone ages 12 and older are required to show their QR code proof of vaccine regardless if they are a participant or spectator.
- Effective January 10, 2022, the verification process for medical exemptions and clinical trial exemptions requires a certificate with a QR code.
- Outside food and drink is not permitted, this is per the Provincial regulations in order to assist with the enforcement of wearing masks.
