OHF announces BIG changes to 'Player Movement' for the 2025-26 season!
Dear HMHA families,
As you might already know the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) announced on December 17th, 2024 series of updates to its Player Movement Regulations to enhance the participant’s experience and accessibility, effective for the 2025–2026 hockey season.
The changes boil down to the removal of all residency restrictions for U10 and older age players in the four (4) Minor Hockey Members which include the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA).

The HMHA board of directors understands that this change is potentially a significant one for a number of our HMHA families. We believe that the small town hockey feel that HMHA provides to players and families since 1936 will continue to be offered. Some quick history, HMHA first appeared in OJHA (OMHA)competition as early as the 1936‐37 season. This means that Hespeler is one of the oldest organizations in the OMHA which first formed in the 1934‐35 season.
HMHA will continue to offer a strong Initiation Program (IP), Hockey Basics, Local League and Rep programs through this change. We will continue to focus on:
· Player development both on and off of the ice
· Retaining and training of the best coaches possible
· Retaining and adding the best players to our teams to enhance our teams
The HMHA board of directors would like to thank everyone for their support during this period of change.
We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays and all the best in the new year.
Thanks
HMHA Board of Directors
