The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) has announced an important update to MD programming for the upcoming season.
Beginning with the 2026–27 season, U9 and below MD players are now eligible to attend evaluations with Alliance Hockey and/or the OMHA, regardless of where they live.
This change applies to the following age groups:
The new policy is designed to provide increased opportunity for players and families while supporting development-focused programming across OMHA and Alliance associations.
What this means for HMHA players
Players registered within either OMHA or Alliance Hockey will be eligible to attend U9 MD and below evaluations with any team within either the Alliance or OMHA.
Evaluation times will follow OMHA seasonal guidelines. HMHA evaluation times will be:
- U9 & U8 MD - Evaluations will take place in April
- U7 MD - Evaluations will take place in the fall.
