Goalie Development and Mentoring Program
Submitted By Kevin Mehlenbacher on Wednesday, August 22, 2018
HMHA has implemented a Goalie Development and Mentoring Program to assist goalies that are already part of HMHA and to encourage new goalies to join.  This program is being offered at no additional cost to the goaltender and goalie equipment (Initiation to Midget sizes) is available for HMHA’s first time goalies.

As part of the Development Program all local league and travel goaltenders will have focused goalie development sessions during the 2018-2019 season.  All development sessions will be with Tim Fewster of Rick Heinz Goalie and Hockey Schools.  All development sessions will be scheduled through the teams head coach.

In addition to the professional coaching sessions, HMHA also intends on commencing a Mentoring Program where our oldest goalies mentor our younger goalies during team practices throughout the season.  This mentoring program provides an opportunity to develop pride within all HMHA players. The ultimate goal of the program is to create bonds between players and provide a chance to pass on knowledge and experience, which paves a path that leads to coaching.  This rewarding program is open to Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile aged players. Along with goalies, HMHA would like to encourage forwards and defenseman to share their knowledge and experience with younger players.  This is an excellent and fulfilling way to earn your community volunteer hours.
