U9 MD, MD (Hespeler Minor Hockey Association)

The team experienced every emotion the game can bring this weekend at the Hespeler U9 Full Ice Tournament. Round robin play ended in heartbreaking fashion. Tied 7-7, the Burford Coyotes scored with less than a second left on the clock. It was a tough loss, but the Shamrocks regrouped and rallied in impressive fashion, winning a thrilling 4-3 victory over Stoney Creek in the semifinal Saturday night, punching their ticket to the T2 Championship. There, they delivered a strong team performance, shutting out the Norfolk Knights 2-0 to take home the trophy. Way to go, Shamrocks.

This weekend was an exciting one for the Hespeler Shamrocks, and it wasn’t just because of the great hockey. Our team proudly debuted our brand-new black third jerseys, and we looked sharp out there. The kids hit the ice with that extra spark in their stride, and you could feel the energy in the rink from the moment warm-ups began. A huge thank you goes out to Freeman Contracting for making these incredible jerseys possible. 

All that hard work in practice sure paid off! The team hit the ice for their first full-ice game of the season and what a debut it was! From the opening faceoff to the final buzzer, the team showed just how much they’ve learned and grown. The result? A 15–0 win on home ice!

Friday night was one for the books as our Shamrocks headed to The Aud to cheer on the Kitchener Rangers! The excitement was sky-high from the moment we arrived. Our players got the incredible opportunity to meet the “Big Boys,” take a warm-up lap, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Rangers on the blue line for the national anthem, a moment none of them will forget anytime soon.

The first two months of the U9MD regular season are officially on the calendar! After an exciting start to training and exhibition games, it’s time for the team to take their skills to the rink for some friendly competition.
