U9LL, LL (Hespeler Minor Hockey Association)

Today the Shamrocks hosted their very first full-ice game of the season, when the Embro Edge came to town. The game was very exciting with equal amounts of shots on both goalies. Embro was able to edge out a victory in this first matchup. Players of the Game were Ethan and Dominic. Dominic for his great positional play and netting the only point for the Shamrocks. Ethan for stepping into his first full-ice game and tackling the world of defence with enthusiasm. Well done you two, your team is proud of you. 

Our second game on the day was a battle for a spot in the finals against Drayton Defenders. This game started off with high intensity but unfortunately ended in defeat for the Shamrocks. The Shamrocks battled hard to the end and even had a penalty shot in the game but were unable to mount a come back. Players of the game were Riggins and Shea. Both these players continued to work the system and play of their coaches and never gave up. Way to go Shea and Riggins. Your team is proud of you. 

On Sunday January 11th our Shamrocks headed out on the snowy roads to Arthur to take place in a one-day tournament on opening day of full-ice hockey! Our first game was against Centre Wellington. The Shamrocks played well and as a team and won the game 7-0. Most impressively 10 Shamrocks tallied points in the game highlighting the importance of team hockey. Players of the game were Jason and Emmett. Jason really stepped up his intensity, and positional play and Emmett recorded a shutout for the team! Well done Jason and Emmett! Your team is proud of you! 

On Sunday January 4th our Shamrocks played their last ever game of half-ice hockey when they hosted the New Hamburg Huskies. 

On Saturday January 3rd the Shamrocks hit the road for their final half-ice away game in Tavistock. The Titans were a challenging opponent but our Shamrocks were ready to get back to work after the winter break. Player of the Game was Harrison for his impressive two-way play. Harrison not only netted two goals for the Shamrocks but also was a force backchecking and had exceptional defensive play. Well done Harrison, your team is proud of you!
