Rocks Head Into Brantford Tournament on Winning Note!
The Hespeler Major Atom A Shamrocks play .500 hockey over their last 3 games culminating in a victory over the Dundas Blues 2-0 on Sunday night.

In their two previous matches, the Rocks tied New Hamburg 2-2 Thursday night in a game that they clearly dominated, but fell to the same New Hamburg Huskies two days later by a score of 6-1.

The Rocks have two regular season games remaining in which they can finish as high as second in their league or as low as fourth.

The Thursday night affair in New Hamburg saw the Rocks control all the action throughout the game but surrender a goal with just over one minute remaining, forcing them to settle for a tie. Numerous chances were missed but the boys played exceptionally hard and deserved a better fate.

The follow-up Saturday afternoon affair in Hespeler against the same New Hamburg Huskies unfortunately wasn't a game to remember for the Rocks. The Huskies were able to capitalize on a lot of their chances while the Rocks still had trouble finding the back of the net.
Give credit to New Hamburg though as they battled hard and showed why they are competing with Hespeler and Burlington for second overall in the league.

The following day in Dundas got the Rocks back to their winning ways. Once again, Hespeler had some trouble finishing their chances and the score was 0-0 heading into the third. Fortunately the Rocks finally had the hockey gods smile on them and they finished two of their chances in a 2-0 whitewashing of the Blues.

Accolades in all three games needs to be given to first year winger Ben Wilson. Wilson is a one-man wrecking crew when it comes to getting the puck, while paying no attention to the opposition in his attempts to gain possession for the Rocks.
Multiple occassions during the three-game stint saw Wilson (not the biggest player on the ice) simply bowl over other players and make a play for his teammates.

When asked after the first New Hamburg game by the Team Reporter what he says to an opposing player after knocking them over, Wilson simply replied "nothing".

When the Team Reporter suggested to Wilson that he should say something like "Oooooh....you've just been 'WILSONed" be-yatch", Ben simply chuckled and say "no".

Ah Benny....he carries himself with a definite amount of class that a certain Team Reporter lacks.

Great job Benny!!!! But you need a new nickname....

On our website, it lists your nickname as "The Clock". Now in fairness to Team Manager Tony Hoff who does an absolutely fabulous job for the team and gave a lot of fantastic names to the boys, I think we can do better than "The Clock".

Team Supporter Patti Costigan had suggested the "Tasmanian Devil" which could easily be shortened to "Taz"....I like it.
Another option might be "The Bull" which could be shortened to, well, "Bull".
Or we could stay with "The Clock" or "Clock".

Please let your Team Reporter know which nickname you'd like to have for Benny....I will let everyone know the results in a follow-up article!!! (Or feel free to suggest something else....)

(Ben: you can't go wrong with any of these names!!! The fans and coaches love your effort!!! Keep it up!)

The Rocks head into action in the Wayne Gretzky Classic tournament in Brantford from Thursday Dec 27th to Saturday December 29th....go Rocks!!!!
