Securing our Spot in the Tri-County Finals!
Our Rocks went into the game knowing that if they came out with the win they secured themselves a spot in the Tri-county finals ... and they didn't disappoint.
The first period found both teams on the offense looking for the first goal of the game! With the Wildcats pushing hard they took advantage of failed clearing attempt and struck first taking the 1-0 lead ending the first period.
The one goal lead didn't deflate our Rocks but gave them determination and as a team they started the second period ready to play! Taking advantage of a Woolwich power play Andrew C. evened up the score and added more fire to his fellow Shamrocks. Continuing to pass and work as a team Colby L. finished off the play by putting our Shamrocks ahead 2-1 ending the second.
The third period saw the Wildcats maximize their pressure but our Rocks also put the pressure on when Adam C. opened the third with a goal putting our Rocks up 3-1. Woolwich answered that goal with one of their own midway through the third bringing them back within one goal. In their push to even up the game Woolwich ended up in the box and Zack R. was able to take advantage and put one in the net putting the Rocks up 4-2 nearing the end of the period. Woolwich being the excellent team they are and staying cool under pressure once again brought the score within one with just minutes left in the third. With Hespeler taking a penalty Woolwich was set to even the score. Our Rocks stayed cool under the extreme pressure and Logan M. stopped everything the Wildcats fired at him and the game ended 4-3 Shamrocks!
What an incredible game Shamrocks!!! You won as a team with each player adding a piece to make it possible!
