U13 LL2, LL (Hespeler Minor Hockey Association)

This weekend the Hespeler Shamrocks competed in our home tournament the Hespeler Classic. While the Shamrocks fell short in the semi-finals, they finished an impressive 4th overall. Here are our tournament MVPs and the awards they were given:  Top Cheese: Mason Miller  Celly: Dexter Linde Defender: Jack Dennis Semi Final Defender: Nathan Filipchuk  Congrats to all four of you on your efforts and leadership this weekend, you represented the home team well! We are so proud of you.  

December 1st saw the Shamrocks advance to the Semi-finals, against top-seed North London, who had yet to allow a goal during the tournament. Our Shamrocks fought valiantly, but ultimately spent too much time in the box and were unable to match the pace of the North London, finishing the game 0-7. Drew Turner was awarded the player of the game necklace for his continual efforts on the ice and his determination to change the result. Drew worked repeatedly and persistently while on the ice to create opportunities for the team. Congrats Drew, your team is proud of you.  

Our third match was a must win game against the Ilderton Jets. The Shamrocks got to work and were able to skate away with a 4-0 victory. Scoring was spread out over 4 different scorers as the Shamrocks highlighted their teamwork skills when playing together, but equally impressive was the shutout victory in tough tournament conditions. Dominic Desouza had the biggest crowd and  biggest smile as he was able to net the player of the game necklace for the second time this season. His ability to keep focused and calm was a huge part of our success. Congrats Dominic, your team is proud of you. 

Our second match of the tournament saw us take on the Barrie. The game was a breakout performance by the Shamrocks winning by an impressive 7-3 after starting out behind. The game sheet was filled with 6 different scorers, but there was plenty of impressive play and teamwork to get there. While he didn't score this game, Liam Strangis was a breath of fresh air and working tirelessly in the defensive zone to create opportunities for his teammates. Congrats on your success and leadership for playing a new position when needed Liam! Your team is proud of you.  

On Friday November 29th the Shamrocks participated in their home tournament, the Hespeler Classic! Our first match of the weekend was against Thamesford. Our Shamrocks started slow, working to get back to game speed, but one player was a breath of much needed energy- Bethany Thompson. Bethany has been growing her on-ice confidence & always takes the extra step to break up passes, dig on the boards & is anchored in front of the net. While she might be small in statue she plays with a lions heart and was today's player of the game. Congrats Bethany - your team is proud of you!
