Hopping in Halton!
In our third playoff game - the second and final game against Halton in this round robin - we found our Rocks facing off against the first place team.
Our Rocks had a tough time finding their groove against the fast moving, solid passing, Thunder. During the first two periods Halton Hills was able to get 5 goals up on the scoreboard which included two power play goals and a goal off a foot. However, our Rocks never gave up.
The third period while the Thunder's play and attitude found them in the box our Rocks stayed cool and found the playoff form that won them the previous game. Owen C. stayed calm in net while the rest of the Shamrocks looked for the passes and dug deep to win the pucks out of the corners. Hespeler was able to steal away the shut out with Andrew C. centering the puck to Brandon W. who set up Ben R. finding the back of Halton's net.
Being honest with our record we look at games differently - we pull the good out of our games. As our players show us - winning isn't everything. This game showed how they have matured over the season. When down in the score previously we have seen them shut down. BUT not in this game. The team continued to pull together and worked hard until the final buzzer of the game. Our Shamrocks didn't allow their frustration to turn the game ugly but kept their cool to the point of frustration for the other team.
The Shamrocks AE can now set their focus on our next playoff game against New Hamburg on Saturday. With our solid play against Halton and the win against the Wildcats other teams are learning Hespeler is in the playoffs to win and shouldn't take us lightly. So lets ramp up the play boys and show these teams we are contenders!!!
GO ROCKS GO!
