If it wasn’t the humbling defeat that the Shamrock’s suffered Wednesday night in Elora at the hands of the Center Wellington Fusion, then it had to be the war paint on the boys faces that was the motivation behind an awesome team effort that kept their Tri County playoff hopes alive.
Preparation and inspiration are key ingredients to success, and with both in hand it was evident right from the opening face off that the Rock’s wanted this victory.
An evenly played first period ended scoreless despite both teams having chances. Late in the second, a penalty shot opportunity for the Fusion that could of broke the tie was turned away and seemed to add a spark to the Shamrock’s already spirited effort.
Finally with roughly five minutes remaining in the game, a somewhat harmless shot from the blue line was mishandled by the Fusion goaltender and waiting on the door step was a Shamrock forward to bang in the rebound. There were some nervous moments in the remaining minutes but the Rock’s were up to the test earning a timely 1-0 victory with their best effort of the year!
With confidence sure to build from this effort, the Shamrock’s send a clear message that they are a team to be reckoned with! Go Rock’s Go!
